When the director first encountered VANS in the 1980s, they were a rare breed of sneakers for skateboarding, even though at the time most sneakers were sports shoes, such as basketball shoes.
VANS has a simple design, but exudes an underground atmosphere and is strongly influenced by West Coast culture. Although it is a niche brand compared to other shoe manufacturers, it has maintained the same style even as the brand has grown in size, which is what draws people to it.
After interacting with the creative team in the US since the 2000s, we decided to do something together and this shoe was born, expressing American culture. VANS shoes have always supported our feet in BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS' past looks, and they are an essential part of the style we propose.
